Randy was the only child of a thief and a swordmaster. His mother abandoned the family just after giving birth to him, and his father lacked confidence in his child-rearing skills, so Randy was pretty much left to raise himself. He found a mother figure in Cerise, a retired dancer his father once knew, and somehow this brought his father out of his shell. Between the two, Randy learned how to dance and to use a sword.For several years, he had a pretty good life.

But when he was seven years old, Cerise died unexpectedly, causing his father to withdraw back into his shell. Randy once again ventured outside his home in search of friends, and at age twelve, he fell in with a band of mercenaries. He became fast friends with Caleb, a boy a few years older, who even introduced him to Jennifer, a young dancer who would become his girlfriend. Unfortunately, Caleb was killed protecting Randy during a surprise bandit attack a year later. Soon after, Randy's relationship with Jennifer fizzled, and she left him for someone older and more experienced.

Randy had always been wary of relationships, and this was the final straw. He was thoroughly convinced that relationships caused nothing but pain and heartache, and vowed never to get close to anyone again as long as he lived.

After a year of pointless and depressed wandering, the clouds of pessimism and self-doubt slowly began to lift thanks to his new pet, a little fox he named Stan, and Lady Justine of House Ysak, who he has a somewhat odd relationship with. He's currently hoping to reconnect with his father as well.

A year later, he received two more bombshells: First, his former girlfriend Jennifer came back into his life. After the initial awkwardness and a long discussion, the two decided to start over and become friends. Jennifer only intended to stay for a while, but has since become a permanent houseguest and almost like a sister to Randy. Whether or not their old feelings for each other will complicate things remains unknown.

Then, his father revealed that mother had died in childbirth and he'd had lied in order to protect his son. Randy forgave Louis, but is still coming to grips with the lie and trying not to blame himself for his mother's death.

He's since gained a stepmother in the woman his father had been courting for the last few years.

Randy could once be described as decidedly emo. He didn't trust people, he didn't believe in anything, and didn't understand anything. For awhile, he became obsessed with finding a purpose and returning to the mercenary life.

Two years later, he's outgrown the emo after a whirlwind courtship with Justine. Though this relationship also ended with a crash, this time he didn't sink into a depression; in fact, he still holds a special place for her in his heart for helping dig him out of the rut he'd been in.

Today's Randy is fairly easygoing and introspective, somewhat dorky. He's very sensitive and quite the worrier, but has learned to smile and take life as it comes.

He's also extremely patriotic and strongly devoted to Edalene, the Jewel of the Desert, and prince Reeve.

Randy is a handsome young man with short brown hair, hazel eyes and a constant sad expression. His clothing is simple, his only accessory a headband Caleb gave him. He's recently grown a few inches and gained some muscle, bringing him slightly under average Atsirian height.
